Daan is an exceptional senior sound designer with significant skills and experience that make a real difference on a project.
He joined the audio team at Sony London on PlayStation VR Worlds and quickly designed audio that was showcasing the specificity of VR. He learnt and rapidly pushed the boundaries of our in-house collection of tools to produce outstanding results in 3D audio.
What I find exceptional about Daan is his ability to be at ease with any subject of audio design. He is one of the rare sound designers I know that have a deep knowledge and know-how of sound recording, as well as dexterity creating synthetic textures with the newest technologies.
He has an extensive experience in games, which in addition to his talent is reflected by a strong methodology and approach to sound design and team work.
Always in a good mood even under pressure, Daan is a really nice person to work with and I can only highly recommend him for any project!

Daan is possibly the most passionate and talented audio designer’s I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. In a field where it is often easy to get fast results ripping from sound libraries, Daan never compromises on quality, often sourcing from his own original material to deliver a unique sound. He is very fast to explore new takes on the practice, creative, and technical areas of audio, all which give him the horsepower to manage and create within a team or even leading a team across a variety of projects and styles. He is as proficient with the initial sound design as he is with it’s implementation into an interactive context. His ear for detail is razor sharp and his critique alone is a priceless asset for any team striving for brilliance. Listening to one of his many exotic location-based recordings is a treat in itself. Basically, you cannot go wrong with Daan.

Daan was the Lead Audio Designer for World of Warriors and did an outstanding job. The audio he sourced, created and recorded went a long way to making the game feel epic and helping each character’s unique personality to shine through. I especially appreciated his approach to experimenting with different sounds and V/O in order to create a cohesive world and to help give the product a real feeling of quality and polish. Daan was also influential in helping to shape the product being a keen gamer and RPG enthusiast and his passion for the product helped it become such a compelling experience. I’d definitely recommend Daan again!
